How DownloaderChecker Works

DownloaderChecker resolves a numeric short code, follows its redirects, and shows the public result of that check. It does not own those destinations, it does not host the files they point to, and it does not guarantee that external content is safe.

What a Downloader code is

A Downloader code is a short numeric identifier. In the Downloader app, that code stands in for a longer URL. The same digits can be entered on their own or copied from an aftv.news link.

How resolution works

DownloaderChecker requests the code over HTTP and follows redirects itself, up to a fixed limit. It records the status and hostname of each hop. It does not run the destination in a browser. If the destination looks like an Android APK, a separate worker may download that file, record hashes and package metadata, and delete the file. DownloaderChecker does not keep or redistribute the APK.

Redirects

A code can pass through more than one address before the final response. The redirect path lists those hops, the HTTP status of each one, and how many redirects were followed.

Destination information

When the final address is a public http or https URL, the result shows the hostname, the full URL, the HTTP status, the content type, and the file size when the server reports one.

Status

Working means a successful response with no redirect. Redirected means a successful response after one or more redirects. Not Working means the latest response was not available. Unable to Verify means the check timed out or failed. Blocked means DownloaderChecker refused to inspect the destination.

Change tracking

Later successful checks are compared with an earlier successful destination. If the final URL or the redirect chain changed, the result says so. The first successful check is not treated as a change.
